Masculine/Feminine

One of the beautiful transparent tops that showed off Araks lingerie underneath.

Yesterday afternoon, Fiftytwo Showroom designer, Araks, presented her Fall 2009 collection of masculine/feminine RTW, accompanied by her matching collection of stunning lingerie, which could be seen through some of the transparent blouses. This season presented plenty of tom-boy style pieces infused with a flirty twist. Wool and velvet trousers, paired with see-through tops and silk charmeuse tees, all were part of the vocabulary that Araks used to construct effortless chic, and that super-easy style that so many of us are turning to in these otherwise tumultuous times.  This production of this collection was noteworthy not only because so many designers are struggling to show this season, but Araks additionally just gave birth to her second child.  Can you imagine having to handle both of these enormous responsibilities simultaneously?  As always, she remains a true inspiration.  Here are some of my favorite looks...

I love this washed silk charmeuse t-shirt, which is so elegant, while simultaneously looking so comfortable, casual, and easy.

This nude silk georgette top and matching pleated skirt reminds me so much of Daisy from The Great Gatsby.

Araks showed plenty of trousers, along with one of my favorite jackets of the season, center.

A black linen shift dress with a pleated collar on the left, and a silk organza transparent top paired with a pleated skirt. You can't see it in this picture, but the pleats on the skirt actually diminish as they wrap around towards the back.

My favorite cashmere cardigan with a silk organza underlayer, a carry-over from spring.
