Frozen Road

InAisce's fourth collection was inspired by the struggle between man and his environment, with the imagined environment being ashen tundras and frozen cityscapes. Even if the place that the designer, Jona, had in mind was only imaginary, I feel like the entire collection was made for Iceland's weird and other-worldly terrain, as well as its perpetually cold climate. The clothes have a post-ice age feel, rendered in cool neutrals, and the collection focuses a lot of attention on heavy outerwear, like elkskin and shearling coats, and a fluid full-length jacket with a spherically molded hood. I imagine that the characters from The Fast Runner Trilogy would wear these clothes if they lived in the 21st century, and I thought of the films when reading these show notes: "The garments not only cover the wearer's feeble flesh but endeavor also to give a glimpse of the immortal beneath the flesh."
