Bedouin Dreams
Our friend Lars Andersson is one of my favorite knitwear designers, never failing to take his knits in inspired new directions, while maintaining meticulously executed patterns. For Spring, Lars looked to the slouchy, draping attire of the Bedouin tribes of the Arabian Peninsula, and infused the traditional clothes with his own modern sensibility. For the women, he gave the shapes a sexier cut, that was partially inspired by the actress Beatrice Dalle from the French film Betty Blue, 37ยบ2 le matin. For the men, he was influenced by his summer in New York's Catskill Mountains, where he was surrounded by guys with a grungier aesthetic sensibility. The sultry desert heat is palpable in these gorgeous lookbook image, and the partially transparent black dress will certainly be on the top of my wishlist when warmer weather arrives.
