altewai.saome

Things have been really crazy this past week with Stockholm and Copenhagen Fashion Week back to back, and even though I've been neglecting the blog, I have plenty of updates to catch up on!  Altewei.Saome is one of the most exciting young brands to emerge from Sweden in recent memory, and as this year's recipient of The Max Factor Award, the label opened fashion week with a ribbon cutting adminstered by the original Girl With a Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace.  Malmo-based designers Natalia Altewei and Randa Saome honed their design skills at Fendi before launching their eponymous line in 2009. For Fall 2012,  the duo was inspired by shadow play and duplicity of character. They continued their signature embroidery work, which played out against a darker color palette of grey and black punctuated with accents of red, and also stuck to architectural tailoring and structured garments.  Even if this collection was slightly more restrained than their opulent Spring 2012 show, Altewai.Saome never fail to add a very distinctive new perspective that seems entirely unique within Swedish fashion.

Obligatory creepy paparazzi shot of Noomi <3
