I'm in Maui for New Years, but I wanted to take a short break from the beach to post these pictures of the Rodarte's first foray into Men's wear, which just arrived at Opening Ceremony. They've taken their signature cobwebby knits, and made them into men's pullovers and cardigans, which actually look pretty unisex to me. In these pictures, taken from the Opening Ceremony website, they're modeled on our friend Sean, who you might recognize as the tattooed bod in the recent spate of McQ advertisements. I think they look quite awesome as a fishnet-like layer over all his tattoos, even though I doubt my own husband would wear them with quite as much panache (actually, he wouldn't wear them at all). It's also a reminder to get back to finishing my own Rodarte style sweater, which is half-way through being latch-hooked, and must be completed so I can start making one of these (for myself though, not for any boy).

Pineapple Express
I've finally arrived in Hawaii, where the weather is a perfect 80F, and the internet is a whopping $16 a day--don't expect to see me around these parts much, I'd rather be sitting on the beach spending that money on sickly sweet daiquiris and overpriced ice cream. Although there are plenty of shops, I have yet to find anything worth buying, which is okay, since everything seems to be a bit more expensive than on the mainland. I do however plan on stopping by Aloha Rag, and if you have any other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. I'm also happy to whip out my long-mouldering summer wardrobe that hasn't seen the light of day since New York entered its arctic freeze. Today I got a chance to wear my new Ideeen dress, which I picked up at their sample sale a few weeks ago for $40.

Time With The Fam
Being from a small town, there isn't much to do while home for the holidays. In attempts to relive our childhood my sister, Riza, and I decided to play dress up (a favorite past time of ours. Don't worry those pictures will be up next!) with our little niece, Andrea.

Champagne Supernova
I'm still full from eating over a dozen mini-cupcakes at our Holiday Party at The Sweet Ones yesterday night. I had to try every single color/flavor available (bacon with maple syrup frosting is still my favorite, try before you judge!). Here are some of my favorite moments from the evening, which included the shoddy construction of a mini-champagne fountain, a tussle over red velvet cupcakes, and many many men in women's clothing.

Girls and Boys Holiday Party with DJ Mark Ronson
Thank you to everyone who came out tonight to our holiday party at The Sweet Ones (pictures to come shortly!). We will be celebrating the season up until the very moment I get on the plane to go to Hawaii, and this Friday we'll be returning to Webster Hall with Mark Ronson as our special guest DJ for the evening. Make sure to stop by before 12:30 and say Six Six Sick at the door for free entry. We promise to treat you to some holiday cheer once you get inside.

Holiday Shopping
I'm proud to announce that I've completed 95% of my holiday shopping, including all those pesky White Elephant gifts (which I really wish we would stop doing, since half the people participating always end up pissed off and/or disappointed anyway). I've been trying my hardest not to shop for myself, but had to make an exception this weekend at the annual Opening Ceremony sample sale. I've been eying this Burfitt jumper since it arrived in the store last winter, and when it was reduced from over $650 to $75, I couldn't resist. Here are a few other items on my Christmas wish list.
Stephen Johnson for Artecnica Wonderland candle holder
I desperately want a pair of these whimsical candle holders for my dinner table. They come in three different styles, including a bunny (above), a bird, and a Cinderella-esque lady (my second favorite).
For some reason, out of all the pieces from the Rodarte x Target collection, this is the only one I really want. I took a peek at a few of the other pieces at the Target pop-up shop this weekend, and must admit I was slightly disappointed (it hurts me to say it, but it's true!). The sequined x-ray dress only had sequins on the front--a cost-saving measure that's just a little too visible for my taste. I usually hate leopard print, and but for some reason I love that it's leopard print on lace, and that it doesn't look like anything else that I already have in my wardrobe.
I love the explosion of color in this sweet picture of a kissing couple in the woods.
This beach towel would be perfect for my upcoming trip to Hawaii!
Alas, tickets have long sold out, so the chances of getting to see Cate the great are very slim.
Lingerie from The Lake & Stars
What girl wouldn't want a silk romper or some nice new underwear from my favorite lingerie company?

The Tales of Beetle and Flor
When the incredible people over at Beetle and Flor emailed these pictures of their cast porcelain skulls and necklaces, I was immediately intrigued. Christina and I both have a penchant for teeth, as you might already know. Additionally, animal skulls and bones have been a highly popular motif in jewelry design of late, and it's always interesting to see how people approach them. Beetle and Flor's designs stand out because of the medium---the smooth white porcelain creates a lovely simulation of bone, more perfect than the real thing. Throw in a couple sets of 18k gold teeth, and they're suddenly even more precious looking. But even though they're fragile, they won't set you back a lot---pieces start at $60.

Partytime, Excellent
As far as days go, yesterday was pretty excellent. In the afternoon, we received a lovely write up from Refinery29 for Triskaidekaphobia, and last night, much to our surprise, we won the award for Best New Party for Butter at The Paper Magazine Nightlife Awards. We won the same prize in 2007 for Six Six Sick, but this time around, we didn't think we had a chance against Lady Gaga fave, Main Man (which ended up picking up the prize for Best Gay Party anyway). When our name was called (they accidentally called the party 66Sick, when it's really called Whipped), I think we were so stunned, that people had to drag/shove us up on to the stage, where mmmbopper Taylor Hanson handed over the little disco-ball wielding Munny.
One of the best parts of the evening was having our friends The Drums perform, stepping up in place of the Ting Tings, who were sick and had to cancel at the last moment. Jon, the lead singer, not only is one of our closest friends, but actually used to be part of Six Six Sick, and took the stage with us when we won in 2007. It made the night that much more perfect, even if they couldn't hang out cause they were locked up in their dressing room for the better part of the night for their standing record of bad behavior (naughty boys!).

Ces Soirées-là
Since holiday season has started, my inbox has been filled with invitations to store parties and shopping specials. Last night, I stopped by Rogan's Ladies Night to say hi to Elizabeth, before heading over to Agent Provocateur to celebrate the launch of their new demi-couture line, Soirée, and view the collection presentation. What I expected to be a crowded party turned out to be a very intimate gathering, with about thirty of A.P.'s best customers (aside from myself, ha) sitting in a salon style setting. Each of the elegant pieces were paraded past the audience on models built to bring out every lingering body-insecurity you might have buried away, while the well-versed P.R. team described the rigorous handiwork that went into the creation. Highlights included the Heloise corset, studded with a plethora of two-inch metal spikes shooting out from the hips, the Fabiana sheer jumpsuit with detachable pants, and a completely open "playsuit" made out of Swarovski crystal chain. While those surrounding me debated on which piece to have custom-fit to their measurements, I watched as covetous audience member. Although I wasn't one of the lucky ladies having my measurements taken after the show, A.P. did include a nice pair of side-tie panties in the goody-bag, so I didn't feel quite as dejected about the lack of cash/20-inch waist.
