Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

Check out Jean-Paul Lespagnard's designs in Yelle's new music video, "Ce jeu."  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Brussels-based Lespagnard, he is the most recent winner of this year's Hyeres Festival Prize.  His collection tells the story of Jaqueline, who works at a Belgian Frites stand, and dreams of America, in a fantasy largely constructed from killer clowns, cowboys, french fries, fast food, and candy stripes.  While the collection immediately calls to mind Jeremy Scott's Junk Food Collection, as well as Scott's pro-camp aesthetic and sense of humor, Lespagnard differentiates himself by turning the kitch subject matter into a bonafide acid trip gone wrong, complete with exaggerated Dolly Parton style hair, Sponge Bob's sociopath cousins parading around the clothing in needlepoint, and 80's horror film makeup.  I'm always a fan a wild imagination, especially if it's of the borderline mentally ill variety.  As you know, the sicker the better...

Gun-toting hamburgers and guitar playing pickles that form the needlepoint details.

A killer-clown look with a candy stripe bodysuit that the Six Six Sick Girls are lusting after.
