Never Nude

Connector necklace and bracelets courtesy of Naked Label, Ideeen sweater, Todd Oldham dress, Chloe heels, sunglasses courtesy of Norma Kamali, Slow and Steady Wins the Race bag

While plenty of designers list futurism as a source of inspiration, few manage to translate the concept as gracefully as Allison Press of Naked Label.  For her latest collection, Cosmos, Press created necklaces that looked like they are adorned by tiny swirling planets, pendants that resemble alien vertebrae, and space-age laser-cut acrylic bangles.  The pieces touch on the universe and the cosmos in an abstract manner, without ever getting too literal.  My favorite group, which Allison kindly sent me, are a set of Connector bracelets and necklaces, made out of rubber tubing filled with tiny blue beads, and connected by three different sets of magnetic clasps that serve as industrial looking accents.  I'm also obsessed with the UFO necklace, which I've been wearing non-stop.

Fierce Looks From Pop Souk

Daniel Palillo dress, Iceberg vest, choker necklace courtesy of Bond Hardware, Triskaidekaphobia tooth necklace, Henrik Vibskov bag.  Photo by @nicollettenyc.

This past Saturday, Christina and I took Triskaidekaphobia and Arms and Armory down to Greenhouse for the second edition of Pop Souk, the one and only market for downtown designers and nightlife personalities. It's always exciting to see all my favorite local talents gathered up in one place, and everyone came out wearing their most outlandish attire, dressed for a night out even though it was really an afternoon in.  I only got to take a quick glimpse at all the offerings, and didn't actually buy anything since I spent most of the time in the booth with the girls, but I did manage to sneak in a manicure with Naomi Yasuda, and capture some photos of my favorite looks.

Springtime in Stockholm

At Prins Eugens Waldenarsudde. Stine Goya x Weekdays dress, H&M tights, Dieppa Restrepo tights, Devaki hat, Triskaidekaphobia necklace

I haven't been posting much lately, as I've been out enjoying my last few weeks in Stockholm.  I'm moving back to New York very soon, right as the days are becoming gloriously long (the sun is going down around nine) and the weather is finally taking a turn for the better.  I spent this weekend relishing spring at two of my favorite museums in Stockholm, Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde, and Millesgarden.  While neither are very centrally located, they're a must see if you happen to be in Stockholm during the spring or summer; both are located on fantastic grounds, and best visited while everything is in bloom.  They also give a peek into what it was like to have a fun and fabulous life in Stockholm at the turn of the century.  Prins Eugens Waldermarsudde is the former castle residence of Swedish Prince Eugen, and contains his private collection of art.  Millesgarden is the former home and estate of artists Carl and Olga Milles, and includes a sprawling sculpture garden filled with Carl Milles's work.

Of course, spring wouldn't be complete without the Cherry Blossoms at Kungstradgarden.  I went to see them twice this weekend, and took some photos with Gabi after our visit to the Dansmuseet (more on that tomorrow).  I know I whine a lot about winter in this country, but I have to say, springtime is pretty wonderful when it finally arrives.

Cat Attack!

Cat Sweater courtesy of Sheinside, Prada skirt, Topshop tights, shoes courtesy of 80%20, Slow and Steady Wins the Race sunglasses, Triskaidekaphobia ring.

No matter how cold it is outside, I see plenty of wandering cats lounging in the sun and snow, attempting to sneak into doorways while people aren't looking, and, most disturbingly, using the playground sandbox as their litterbox.  As much as I enjoy watching their activities, I try to keep a distance, as I am incredibly allergic to those feisty felines. I do think they're incredibly cute from afar, and I couldn't resist this sweater that has a cat splayed across the front and the back.   I think he looks quiet like the fattest cat in the neighborhood, who is so large that I mistook him for a dog when I first saw him skulking through the woods.

Winter Whites

Marc Jacobs coat, Jameson leggings, Minimarket scarf and bag, Alexander Wang boots, Slow and Steady Wins the Race sunglasses, Devaki hat.

The last bits of snow are melting away now, and I swear I can feel springtime in the air (or at least I'm sneezing a lot, which means my allergies can at least sense something stirring).  Since it felt so warm yesterday, we took a walk in the woods around our house again.  Unfortunately, all of the snow in the woods had melted into an endless sheet of hard, slippery ice, and our walk ended up being an hour of precariously ice-skating up and down paths while trying to find our way back to civilization.  Ah, Sweden!  Even though the excursion was a little more stressful than we had anticipated, we did come across this playhut in the middle of the woods, complete with a mini fireplace and a log bench.  I couldn't resist poking around inside.

Wintry Mix

Sweatshirt courtesy of Ello, Marc x Marc Jacobs coat, C. Neonn leggings, Annie Larson scarf, Cambridge Satchel Company bag, sunglasses c/o Norma Kamali, Barneys New York hat, Alexander Wang shoes.

Happy Fat Tuesday! Or Semmeldagen as it is known here.  Even though I did not eat a single Semla (don't like them much, even though I think they look pretty), I did go out for a few drinks, and I have been enjoying this Tuesday very much. It's been an odd mix of rain, snow, and sleet, lately.  Nonetheless, you can't help but feel the warmth of the sun coming back to Stockholm, and the slightly delusional sensation that springtime is on it's way.  The lovely Michelle of Ello made me this  No-Sign sweatshirt, which has been keeping me warm and cozy (I'm wearing it as I type), and which has been perfect for layering under my "spring" jacket.  In addition to her handmade sweatshirts and tees, Michelle also sells a fun and well-priced selection of vintage, including plenty of one-of-a-kind sweaters that are perfect for keeping warm in these transitional months.  You can feel the joy that Michelle puts into her work and the shop, and she even sent over a bag full of smiley face stickers, which I promptly used to cover my janky Swedish mobile phone.  Thanks Michelle for keeping me warm for the rest of the winter!

Brow Mapping

ASOS feather jacket, Uniqlo heat tech shirt, Arms and Armory necklace.

A little while back, Anastasia of Beverly Hills sent over one of their Beauty Express Brow Kits for me to test out. I'm pretty low maintenance beauty wise, and generally stick to a daily routine of eyeliner, blush and bronzer.  I know brows are important, but I usually leave mine rather neglected and shamefully out of sorts.  The brow kit that Anastasia sent over included gel, brow shadow, eye shadow, a brush, and a set of brow stencils to choose from according to your face and eyebrow shape.  Clear and simple instructions from the brow expert herself detailed how to achieve the golden ratio, and were easy enough for a complete beauty novice like myself to understand and follow.  I'm pretty pleased with the results.  If you're interested in getting a little help with your brows, the company is currently running a "Wish You Were Here" contest to be flown to L.A. to have your brows done by Anastasia herself.  Instructions on how to enter are here (U.S. Residents only, sorry). Good luck!

Into The Wild

Demonbabies Sweatshirt c/o Blood is the New Black, Gestuz pants, Alexander Wang boots, Barneys New York hat, sunglasses c/o Norma Kamali, Gerard Yosca cuff, Triskaidekaphobia tooth necklace.

One of the weirdest things about living in Stockholm is that even though it's a pretty big, semi- cosmopolitan city, you can still walk out of your apartment and find yourself in the middle of the woods.  As a New Yorker, it's an incredibly strange dichotomy to swallow.  I'm a five minute subway ride from Sodermalm, which is in the center city, yet I also live steps away from a giant nature reserve, and a ten minute walk to the nearest ski slope, Hammarbybacken.  On my way to the subway yesterday, I witnessed a giant deer being chased frantically down the street by a miniature greyhound sporting a black and red wool jacket. True Stockholm fashion capital realness.

Anyway, I'm slowly adjusting to my new surroundings, and this weekend, Jimmy and I took a long hike in the woods.  I don't have much in the way of hiking clothes, so I threw on my new Blood is the New Black sweatshirt, a fur coat, and my Alexander Wang boots, which have proved to be the best winter weather boots I've ever owned.  Even though Jimmy slipped and fell three times, I managed to remain on my feet throughout the entire walk! Here are some photos from my neighborhood.
