All good things come to those who wait. Over the past year, I've seen some of my favorite foreign stores open brick and mortar shops in New York, including Topshop and All Saints. But what about the best of the West Coast? New York fans of Los Angeles indie-designer emporium Creatures of Comfort can finally rejoice. Jade Lai not only has launched an in-house Creatures of Comfort label, but opened her first East Coast store in Soho yesterday night at 205 Mulberry Street. The space is a gorgeous gallery-like expanse with a tiny courtyard, and it perfectly showcases the store's stock of mostly minimalist and avant-garde designers. In addition to the tomboy style in-house label of well constructed button-downs, tees, and other basics, the store will carry VPL, Slow and Steady Wins the Race, Repetto, Anntian, Bernhard Willhelm, MM6, Henrik Vibskov, Rachel Comey, and many many more. When I stopped by for the opening party last night, the stock was still a little sparse, but I already have my eye on a grey felt MM6 hat and the Lauren Manougian knits. Can't wait to see the rest of the goodies when they come in!

One entire wall was covered with these multicolored streamers--so pretty!
