Warmi Up!

While surfing the loveliest e-shop on the internet, The Moon and Mars (maybe I'm a bit biased since we sell there), I came across the most amazing new line of fun, colorful and kooky knits, Warmi.  Designed by Sylvia Toth in Paris, and then hand knit in the towns of Tausa and Sutatausa in Colombia by artisans, the line combines traditional Latin American textile craftsmanship with Parisian fashion-forwardness.  While I love the cartoonish depictions of snakes, birds, and other fuzzy four-legged creatures, I also appreciate Warmi's dedication to the craft of knitting.  Each of the Colombian artisans is featured in a small bio on the website, and all of them sign the pieces that they create.  Additionally, Warmi encourages people to knit their own pieces, selling kits so you can get started on a leopard-print armband project, and perhaps move on to more complex things from there.  Warmi has certainly inspired me to pick up my own set of needles soon--maybe I'll knit up my own phantasmagoric creature to keep me warm this winter.

Spreading Some Blog Love: Six Six Sick + Modepass Contest!

As I've told you earlier this week, I've had spectacular luck at winning two blog contests in the past few months.  Since I don't consider myself an extraordinarily luck-blessed individual (although, if this continues, I should go out and buy some lottery tickets!), I'm assuming that not many people entered, probably because they assumed that the chances of winning were incredibly slim.  Anyway, when Julie from Modepass suggested we partner to do a contest, I thought it would be a great opportunity to pass the love forward.  All you have to do to enter is to join Modepass on our behalf!

There will be two separate prizes, and the two winners will be drawn from the pool of Modepass members registered from this blog alone, which means you won't be competing against regular members enrolling for Modepass, and that your chances of winning are very high!  Here's the information:

PRIZES:
Modepass will provide one winner with a voucher of $100 which can be spend however you want (no particular brand).
Six Six Sick will provide another winner with a special surprise goody bag of Six Six Sick designed accessories/jewelry.  We have yet to decide what will be in the prize, but I promise you it will be good, and it will be representative of what we make for nightly party-outfits!

TO ENTER:
All you have to do is sign up for a Modepass Account, and then follow these steps:

1. Under "My Modepass" go to "My account"
2. Go to "Edit my profile"
3. In the "Who I am" section, go to the "Addicted to" field and write "Six Six Sick".

The contest deadline is Thursday, May 21st.

If you have any trouble with the process, you can email julie@modepass.com.  While you're there, make sure to add us as your friend!

Favorite Non-Fashion Related Links

1. Cute Boys Make Me Nervous Now that I'm married, I don't go around looking for cute boys anymore, and when I do talk to them at my parties I feel compelled to constantly project asexuality, less they get the mistaken impression that I'm hitting on them. On the interwebs, I can gawk at cute boys without having to awkwardly blurt out the word "husband" when it's completely inappropriate. This site was made for me.

First Aid Kit covering Fleet Foxes-Tiger Mountain Peasant Song, found on Elbo.ws. This video gives me chills.
2. Elbo.ws a music blog aggregator with a blog icon that looks like 66S DJ Micprobes (who incidentally introduced me to the site). This is my go to place for new music and downloads.

Architecture in Helsinki performing Heart It Races in a La Blogotheque production.
3. La Blogotheque A French music blog that features weekly "Concerts a emporter," or take away concerts, with the best indie bands performing songs on the go. My French has gotten so piss poor that I can barely understand this site anymore, but I can still enjoy the music. My personal favorites are their concerts with Arcade Fire (in an elevator), Malajube (on the streets of Paris), Animal Collective (in a grocery cart), Scout Niblett (in a stairwell), The Fleet Foxes (in the park), and The Hidden Cameras (by the river).

4. Smalltalk Swedish singer/songwriter Jens Lekman's blog. Like Kanye's but better.

5. Sweet Fine Day Supercute blog run by a Brooklyn couple who own their own baking company. It features plenty of perfectly presented recipes for the most delicious looking sweets, all accompanied by beautiful pictures. Plus, they have the most adorable kids ever.

6. Bloesem The best inspiration for decorating your tiny New York apartment on a budget.
